2025 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Spied: New ADAS, Design Updates & Features Revealed

2025 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Spied

Volkswagen is gearing up to give its popular compact SUV, the Taigun, a major refresh. First launched in India back in September 2021, the SUV is now preparing for its 2025 facelift, and early prototypes have already been seen on Indian roads. The latest spy shots hint at a mix of design tweaks, interior refinements, and a stronger emphasis on advanced safety technology.

With Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos ruling the mid-size SUV segment, the Taigun facelift arrives at a crucial time to strengthen Volkswagen’s position against these heavyweights, as well as newer challengers like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Tata Curvv.

Despite the heavy camouflage, test mules have given away some key styling updates. Expect redesigned bumpers, a larger front grille, and sleeker headlamps that may include sequential turn indicators. The SUV is also likely to sport new LED lighting patterns, aligning it with Volkswagen’s latest global design cues.

Fresh alloy wheel designs are also expected, while signature details such as roof rails, body-coloured door handles, and blacked-out B-pillars will continue unchanged. Buyers can also look forward to new paint shades to freshen up the overall appeal.

Cabin Upgrades and Feature Enhancements

Inside, Volkswagen is expected to raise the premium quotient of the Taigun facelift. Reports suggest the use of better-quality materials, updated upholstery, and possibly soft-touch dashboard finishes. A 360-degree camera and dual-zone climate control could make their way into the feature list, though the much-demanded panoramic sunroof may still remain absent.

The headline addition, however, is Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). This will finally put the Taigun on par with rivals that already offer the technology. Likely inclusions are adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam assist. These will complement the existing safety setup of six airbags, traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, and reverse parking sensors.

Engine Options and Expected Pricing

Under the hood, Volkswagen is unlikely to tinker much. The 2025 Taigun facelift is expected to retain the trusted pair of turbo-petrol engines:

  • A 1.0-litre TSI producing 115 hp and 178 Nm, with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.
  • A 1.5-litre TSI generating 150 hp and 250 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG.

There is also speculation that Volkswagen could replace the existing 6-speed automatic with a more refined 8-speed unit for smoother performance.

Currently priced between ₹10.99 lakh and ₹19.83 lakh (ex-showroom), the facelifted model will likely come at a higher premium once launched in 2026, thanks to its added features and advanced driver assistance tech.
