MG Motor India has officially launched the 2026 facelift of its popular Hector SUV, giving its first-generation model another significant refresh. The updated Hector lineup starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 11.99 lakh, while the larger three-row Hector Plus begins at Rs. 17.29 lakh, going up to Rs. 19.49 lakh for the top-end variant.
Positioned squarely in the competitive midsize SUV segment, the refreshed Hector continues its rivalry with established names like the Tata Harrier and Safari, the Hyundai Alcazar, and the newly launched Mahindra XUV 7XO. This update focuses primarily on stylistic enhancements while keeping the mechanical package familiar to existing customers.
Exterior Updates
Walking around the 2026 Hector, you’ll notice a more aggressive and contemporary front profile. While the SUV retains its signature imposing grille, the inserts have been swapped from a diamond pattern to a sleeker, honeycomb mesh. The lower air dam has also been redesigned for a bolder look, and the SUV now rides on a fresh set of alloy wheels. These changes give the Hector a sharper road presence without altering its fundamental, muscular silhouette.
Familiar lighting signatures, however, provide continuity. The distinctive split-headlamp setup at the front and the full-width LED light bar connecting the tail lamps at the rear have been carried over from the previous model, ensuring the Hector remains instantly recognizable.
Powertrain Details
Under the hood, MG has opted for a “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach. Both the Hector and Hector Plus facelifts carry forward the proven engine and transmission options from the outgoing models.
For petrol buyers, the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine continues, producing 143 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. It can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic for a more relaxed driving experience.
Diesel enthusiasts get the familiar and potent 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, which churns out a healthy 170hp and 350Nm of torque. This variant, however, is offered exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
By retaining these powertrains, MG ensures reliability and familiarity, while the comprehensive exterior refresh keeps the SUV feeling new and relevant in a segment where buyers expect constant innovation. The 2026 Hector facelift aims to blend fresh design with trusted mechanics to attract both new customers and loyalists seeking an upgrade.
