The MG Windsor EV has been a game-changer in India’s electric vehicle market. With its sleek design, cutting-edge features, and impressive performance, it’s no surprise that this EV has become MG Motor’s best-selling product, contributing over 65% of its sales volume.
Launched in October 2024, the Windsor EV quickly gained traction, prompting MG to introduce a more advanced version, the Windsor EV Pro, in May 2025. Both models smashed expectations, with the Windsor EV receiving 15,176 bookings in just 24 hours, while the Windsor EV Pro hit 8,000 bookings at its introductory price in record time. Building on this success, MG has now announced a price increase for its top-spec Windsor EV Essence Pro variant.
Revised Pricing for the MG Windsor EV Essence Pro
Initially launched with an introductory price of ₹17.49 lakh, the Windsor EV Essence Pro’s special offer was limited to the first 8,000 bookings, which sold out in just 24 hours. Following this, the price was adjusted to ₹18.10 lakh.
Now, MG has implemented a further price hike of ₹21,000, bringing the ex-showroom price of the Windsor EV Essence Pro to ₹18.31 lakh. While MG has not provided an official explanation, the increase is likely tied to rising production costs.
For customers opting for MG’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) solution, the pricing remains attractive. The Windsor EV Essence Pro is available at ₹13.31 lakh under BaaS, saving ₹5 lakh on the initial purchase. The battery rental cost remains the same at ₹4.5/km. Additionally, BaaS comes with the added benefit of MG’s buyback scheme, offering a guaranteed buyback value of 60% (ex-showroom) after 3 years or 45,000 kilometers.
Windsor Exclusive Pro Variant Offers Value with Trade-offs
For buyers looking for a more affordable option, MG also offers the Windsor Exclusive Pro variant priced at ₹17.25 lakh (₹12.25 lakh with BaaS). However, it lacks a few premium features found in the top-spec Essence Pro, including Level 2 ADAS, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, powered tailgate, and additional color options. Despite these compromises, the Exclusive Pro still provides excellent value for budget-conscious buyers.
No Feature Updates with the Price Increase
Apart from the price hike, no additional changes have been made to the Windsor EV Essence Pro variant. Unlike standard Windsor EV models equipped with a 38-kWh battery pack offering a range of 332 km, the Windsor Pro variants boast a larger 52.9-kWh battery, delivering an extended range of 449 km. This makes them more suited for long-distance drives.
However, the powertrain remains shared between the standard and Pro models, featuring an electric motor that churns out 136 PS and 200 Nm. Fast charging capabilities also differ; the Pro variant supports 60 kW fast chargers, cutting charging time from 20% to 80% to just 50 minutes. With a 7.4 kW AC charger, it takes about 9.5 hours for a full charge.
