New 3-Door Mahindra Thar Facelift Launch Date & Features Revealed

The 3-door Mahindra Thar facelift is expected to hit the markets on September 1, 2025, ushering in a series of exciting updates both inside and out. Ever since its initial launch in 2020, the Thar has cemented itself as one of Mahindra’s most successful offerings, captivating enthusiasts with its rugged charm and off-road prowess. The lineup has expanded since then, introducing the more accessible 2WD variant and the larger five-door Thar Roxx, both of which have been impressive hits in the Indian auto market.

Due to its immense popularity, the Mahindra Thar continues to command a significant waiting period, ranging between four to six months depending on the variant. Now, nearly five years since the second-generation Thar’s debut, Mahindra is gearing up for a mid-life facelift, with heavily camouflaged test mules spotted multiple times across public roads.

The 3-door Mahindra Thar facelift is anticipated to retain its robust mechanicals and ladder-frame chassis. Under the hood, the familiar engine lineup will likely carry forward, comprising the reliable 1.5L diesel, 2.0L petrol, and 2.2L diesel options, ensuring continued rugged performance.

Design-wise, the facelifted model is expected to incorporate several subtle but impactful changes. Drawing inspiration from the larger Thar Roxx, it features a reprofiled front bumper and updated fog lamp enclosures for a more modern appearance. The grille is rumored to receive delicate tweaks, while stylish C-shaped LED light elements further elevate the SUV’s character. Additionally, the alloy wheels are expected to sport a fresh design, helping distinguish the new model from its predecessor.

Stepping into the cabin, Mahindra has revitalized the interiors with modern touches aimed at enhancing the overall user experience. The standout addition is the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, taking pride of place on the redesigned dashboard. Around the gear lever area, subtle changes to the center console layout hint at the inclusion of a wireless charging pad, adding a touch of convenience. The steering wheel has been revamped to reflect the updated interior aesthetic, while the power window controls, previously located on the central console, are now conveniently mounted on the doors for improved accessibility.

September 2025 promises to be an exciting month for Mahindra fans. Alongside the facelifted Thar, the automaker also plans to unveil four new concept vehicles, a new platform, and possibly the next-gen Bolero, showcasing its strong commitment to innovation and growth.

With the 3-door Mahindra Thar facelift, Mahindra & Mahindra aims to build on the legacy of its iconic off-road SUV by blending modern aesthetics with its renowned performance. Whether it’s the refreshed design, smarter interiors, or continued rugged appeal, the new Thar promises to captivate enthusiasts and off-road lovers alike.
