Mahindra Thar EV-Based Vision T Concept To Be Unveiled Tomorrow in Mumbai

Mahindra Thar EV-Based Vision T Concept To Be Unveiled Tomorrow in Mumbai

The much-awaited Mahindra Vision T concept is all set for its grand debut tomorrow in Mumbai, signaling the brand’s ambitious leap into the future of off-road electric vehicles. Designed to set a new benchmark, the Vision T concept will offer a glimpse of an evolved near-production version of the Thar EV, which is expected to hit the market in the coming years.

The Vision T concept appears to maintain the iconic boxy silhouette reminiscent of the Thar.e concept, which was unveiled two years ago in South Africa. While the original Thar.e concept was built on Mahindra’s specialized INGLO P1 platform, the Vision T concept is likely to pave the way for advanced innovations in Mahindra’s electric vehicle lineup.

At the upcoming Freedom_NU event, Mahindra plans to showcase not just the Vision T but also three additional concept models and a new platform technology. This makes it evident that the brand aims to reimagine its portfolio with a strong focus on electric mobility while catering to off-road enthusiasts.

A Bold Evolution in Design and Capability

Initial teasers of the Vision T concept hint at bold upgrades. The design features a squarish bonnet, pronounced wheel arches, sturdy bonnet latches, and all-terrain tires, signaling that the concept is crafted with rugged adventures in mind. The partially revealed front fascia includes a twin-part grille with horizontal slats, drawing inspiration from the Thar Roxx.

The distinct headlamp design incorporates a central squarish lighting element flanked by vertical segments, introducing a modern yet rugged aesthetic. Similarly, the tail lamps will carry forward vertical lighting elements derived from the Thar.e concept, adding to the familiarity for Thar enthusiasts. Additional features like a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, flared fenders, and outer grab handles are also evident, making it clear that Mahindra is staying true to its off-road roots while taking a step toward electrification.

Future-Forward Technology and Features

As per recent insights, the production version of the Thar EV might come equipped with dual battery configurations, offering an impressive range of over 450 kilometers on a single charge. Advanced functionalities like vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) power-sharing capabilities are expected, along with support for DC fast charging, making it a solid contender in the EV market.

The feature list could include a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument console, and highly advanced Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technology, ensuring a blend of luxury and safety. Mahindra’s choice to utilize the INGLO P1 platform, known for its ability to accommodate longer wheelbases and higher ground clearance, is expected to provide an edge over competitors using traditional body-on-frame constructions for rugged EVs.

With the Vision T concept, Mahindra reinforces its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and its legacy of rugged engineering. The electric off-road SUV segment is still in its early stages globally, but Mahindra seems positioned to influence this space by exploring unique design and engineering approaches that align with the demands of modern EV enthusiasts.

The production-ready Thar EV is anticipated to launch within the next few years, while updates to the internal combustion engine (ICE) variant of the 3-door Thar are slated for early 2026. With a future-focused approach, Mahindra is gearing up to redefine off-road capabilities in the electric era.
