Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) has unveiled the S1 LM, the first bespoke creation under the brand’s “Special Vehicles” division. This extraordinary road-legal supercar commemorates 30 years since the legendary McLaren F1 GTR triumphed at Le Mans in 1995. With only five units slated for production, each commissioned exclusively for a single unnamed client, the S1 LM positions itself as a rarity among supercars. Deliveries are expected to commence in 2026.
A Bold Homage to the McLaren F1 GTR
The GMA S1 LM draws heavy design inspiration from the McLaren F1 GTR, not only in spirit but also in striking visual cues. Its aerodynamic silhouette showcases thoughtful nods to the original, such as a prominent roof scoop, five-spoke wheels, quad exhaust outlets, and distinctive air vents lining the front fenders. Further elevating its aerodynamic efficiency, the supercar features newly designed carbon fiber panels adorned with aggressive strakes, sculpted lines, and intricate vents.
Additional exterior refinements include:
- Redesigned slimmer headlights with an angular appeal
- A lower roofline for optimized proportions
- An adjustable multi-piece rear wing and a larger rear diffuser
- A cleaner, fully revamped rear fascia
Notably, the S1 LM departs from the T.50’s hallmark rear-mounted fan but retains butterfly-style doors for practical elegance.
Inside the S1 LM’s Cabin

The interior of the S1 LM captures Gordon Murray’s iconic three-seater layout, placing the driver front-and-center with two flanking passenger seats. This configuration first defined the McLaren F1 and remains a hallmark of Murray’s engineering philosophy.
The cabin embraces its racing heritage by stripping back unnecessary luxuries for a purist, sport-focused atmosphere. Highlights include:
- Central race-spec bucket seat and steering wheel for sharper focus
- Vintage tartan upholstery with bold red accents
- Wooden gear shifter, evoking classic racecar aesthetics
- Simplified carbon fiber finishes throughout for reduced weight
Everything in the cabin is designed for functionality and performance, ensuring the driver is always connected to the road.
A Naturally Aspirated Powerhouse
At the heart of the S1 LM is a 4.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine developed by Cosworth. This precision-tuned power unit is an evolution of the T.50’s V12, pushing performance boundaries even further. Producing over 700 horsepower and revving to an extraordinary 12,100rpm, this engine delivers blistering speed and responsiveness.

Enhancing its dynamic performance, the engine is solid-mounted to improve cornering precision, while gold foil heat shielding in the engine bay echoes the innovative materials famously used in the F1.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission, shared with the T.50, but recalibrated for the S1 LM’s specific needs. When paired with its lightweight carbon fiber chassis and tuned suspension system, GMA promises a sharper, more exhilarating, and track-oriented driving experience.
A Celebration of Craftsmanship and Legacy
Each element of the GMA S1 LM is a testament to Gordon Murray’s dedication to creating supercars that blend performance, heritage, and craft. Limited to just five individually commissioned units, the S1 LM is a salute to motorsport history and a pinnacle of modern automotive engineering.
With its timeless design, extreme performance capabilities, and exclusivity, the GMA S1 LM not only evokes nostalgia for the iconic F1 GTR but also sets a new standard for bespoke supercars. Deliveries may still be a few years away, but this masterpiece has already cemented its place in automotive history.
