Ahead of its official debut, the heavily updated Hero Xtreme 160R 4V has been spotted at dealerships, signaling its imminent launch. Dubbed the “Combat Edition,” this new model isn’t just a simple refresh; it represents a significant technological leap for Hero MotoCorp in the competitive 160cc sporty motorcycle segment.
The most striking update is at the front, where the bike borrows styling cues from its larger sibling, the Xtreme 250R. The Combat Edition sports a completely redesigned LED headlamp cluster that gives it a more aggressive and modern face. This is complemented by a new LCD instrument console with a negative display, which not only looks sportier but also promises better readability in various lighting conditions.

While the silhouette remains familiar, subtle revisions to the paint scheme and graphics contribute to a sharper, more cohesive stance. However, the true revolution lies not in what you see, but in what you control. Hero has equipped the Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition with a ride-by-wire electronic throttle system.
This advanced throttle technology unlocks two headline-grabbing features:
- Multiple Riding Modes: Riders can now toggle between different engine maps, likely labeled as Rain, City, and Sport. This allows the motorcycle’s character to be tailored to specific conditions, offering a blend of safety and performance.
- Segment-First Cruise Control: In a bold move, Hero is introducing cruise control to the 160cc category in India. This system enables riders to set and maintain a constant speed on highways, reducing fatigue on long journeys and making for a more relaxed riding experience.
The new functionality is managed through revised switchgear on the handlebars, bringing the Xtreme’s ergonomics and tech in line with more premium global offerings.

Powering this tech-laden package remains the trusted 163.2 cc, air- and oil-cooled, four-valve engine. It continues to deliver a proven 16.6 bhp of power and 14.6 Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed gearbox. The chassis, with its KYB upside-down front forks and rear monoshock, along with dual-channel ABS, is expected to retain the model’s popular dynamic handling.
With these additions, Hero MotoCorp is strategically repositioning the Xtreme 160R 4V as a feature-packed champion. While an official price is yet to be announced, the Combat Edition is expected to command a slight premium over the current top variant, which costs around ₹1.31 lakh (ex-showroom). Given the substantial upgrade in electronics and design, this potential price increase seems well-justified, offering riders a level of technology previously unavailable in this segment.
