Upcoming Electric SUVs in India: 8 New EV Launches Set to Electrify 2025–26

Upcoming Electric SUVs in India

India’s electric SUV segment is heading into one of its busiest phases yet. Over the next 12 to 15 months, major automakers are preparing to roll out a mix of compact and midsize electric SUVs aimed at tapping into the country’s booming demand for cleaner mobility. From Tata’s long-awaited Sierra EV revival to Mahindra’s first three-row electric SUV, here’s a closer look at the key models gearing up for launch.

Tata Sierra EV

Tata Motors is preparing to bring back one of its most iconic names—Sierra. The comeback will begin with the ICE version slated for November 25, 2025, followed shortly after by the fully electric Sierra EV in early 2026.
Building on Tata’s new-age electric architecture, the Sierra EV is expected to borrow core components from the Curvv EV and the recently introduced Harrier EV. A larger battery pack—likely the unit used in the e-Harrier—should help position the Sierra EV as a premium and long-range offering within Tata’s lineup.

Mahindra XEV 9S

Mahindra is gearing up for a significant milestone with the launch of the XEV 9S on November 27. This model will mark the company’s entry into the three-row electric SUV space, sitting atop the INGLO skateboard platform that also underpins the XEV 9e and BE 6.
Mahindra plans to offer it with 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery options, both engineered to deliver real-world driving ranges exceeding 500 km. With space, practicality and premium tech, the XEV 9S is setting itself up to be a strong new contender in the family EV segment.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara

Maruti Suzuki has already begun production of the e-Vitara at its Gujarat plant for international markets, and the India launch is now just weeks away. The midsize electric SUV will arrive with two battery choices—49 kWh and 61 kWh—along with a modern, feature-rich cabin that includes ventilated seats, Level 2 ADAS, and a well-equipped infotainment system.
In early 2026, Toyota will introduce its own version of this electric SUV under the Urban Cruiser BEV name. While both models will share the same battery packs and core mechanicals, Toyota is expected to differentiate its SUV with unique styling and brand-focused tuning.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and BE Rall-E

Mahindra’s electric expansion continues with the upcoming XUV 3XO EV, which has been spotted testing several times. Designed to compete with the Tata Punch EV and certain versions of the Nexon EV, the electric 3XO is expected to launch next year with a focus on urban practicality and value.
Alongside it, Mahindra is also working on the BE Rall-E—an adventure-ready, more rugged interpretation of the BE6. With off-road-inspired styling and tougher credentials, the Rall-E is being positioned for a 2026 debut.

Hyundai’s Compact Electric SUV and Kia Syros EV

Hyundai has officially confirmed that it will introduce a locally built compact electric SUV in India next year. While the company has yet to reveal detailed specifications, the model appears to take inspiration from the global Hyundai Inster and will sit below the upcoming Creta EV in the brand’s electric hierarchy.
Kia, meanwhile, is exploring the idea of launching its own compact EV based on the Syros. Although the company has not issued a formal confirmation, early indications suggest that Kia may join the segment soon with a model tailored specifically for India.
