Mahindra has electrified the Indian EV market with the launch of the BE 6 Formula E Edition, a special variant that injects the spirit of international electric racing into a production car. Priced from ₹23.69 lakh (ex-showroom), this limited-run model is available in two distinct trims: the FE2 and the top-tier FE3 at ₹24.49 lakh.
Bookings for this exclusive electric SUV open on January 14, 2026, with the first deliveries expected to hit the roads exactly one month later, on February 14.
A Design Forged on the Racetrack
While it shares its core palette of Tango Red, Stealth Black, Firestorm Orange, and Everest White with the standard BE 6, the Formula E Edition is instantly recognizable. It sports a more aggressive stance, thanks to redesigned front and rear bumpers adorned with a silver-finished faux bash plate. The model is further distinguished by unique circular headlights, prominent grey and black body cladding, and special decals on the front quarter panels.
The most significant visual tribute is the 12-stripe graphic on the bonnet and roof, a nod to the 12 years Mahindra has competed in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Moving to the rear, the LED tail-lights feature a cleaner design that doesn’t sweep down towards the bumper, and a dedicated Formula E badge marks its racing pedigree. While the FE2 variant rides on 19-inch wheels, the FE3 upgrades to more commanding 20-inch alloys and adds exterior puddle lamps for extra flair.
An Interior Immersed in Motorsport
Inside, the familiar and tech-forward cabin of the BE 6 remains, featuring the signature ‘halo loop’ design and twin 12.3-inch screens. However, the Formula E Edition elevates the experience with exclusive branding and a vibrant Firestorm Orange and Black interior theme.
Occupants are greeted with an FIA X Formula E Edition plaque, Formula E logos embossed on the seats and dashboard, and FIA-branded seat belts. The motorsport feel is enhanced the moment you start the vehicle, with custom start-up animations and synthesised engine sounds that echo its track-inspired origins.
Feature-wise, it leaves little to be desired. The car is packed with amenities from the top-spec model, including a 360-degree camera, ADAS, a Harman Kardon audio system, wireless charging, and a cooled console. The range-topping FE3 variant gains the added sophistication of an adaptive suspension, promising a blend of comfort and dynamic handling.
Performance and Powertrain
Underpinning the bold aesthetics is serious electric performance. The BE 6 Formula E Edition is exclusively offered with the larger 79kWh battery pack. This powers a rear-mounted electric motor generating a robust 286hp and 380Nm of torque, ensuring spirited acceleration. Most impressively for potential buyers, it boasts an ARAI-certified range of up to 682km on a single charge, making it a practical proposition for both city commutes and longer journeys.
