TVS Commences BMW F 450 GS Production

The strategic alliance between India’s TVS Motor Company and German premium motorcycle giant BMW Motorrad has just roared past a truly significant landmark: the partners have successfully manufactured over 200,000 units of high-performance motorcycles since their collaboration began in 2013. This massive production milestone coincides with the highly anticipated commencement of manufacturing for the newest product of this successful partnership—the BMW F 450 GS—at TVS’s state-of-the-art facility in Hosur, India.

This collaboration has solidified TVS’s position as a world-class manufacturing hub, capable of producing premium motorcycles that meet BMW Motorrad’s stringent global quality standards. For over a decade, the relationship has been instrumental in expanding BMW’s footprint in the global entry-level premium segment. The Hosur plant has served as the sole production base for models like the dynamic streetfighter BMW G 310 R, the versatile adventure tourer G 310 GS, and the fully-faired sportbike G 310 RR. These models have been credited by BMW Motorrad as key drivers of their international growth and have introduced thousands of riders worldwide to the coveted ‘BMW’ motorcycling experience.

The spotlight now turns to the BMW F 450 GS, which is now officially rolling off the TVS production line. Unveiled to the world at the prestigious EICMA 2025 event, the F 450 GS is set to redefine the entry point into BMW’s legendary GS adventure touring line-up. Its introduction follows the discontinuation of the popular G 310 GS, positioning the F 450 GS as the new, more potent gateway to true adventure motorcycling.

Under the hood—or rather, beneath the tank—this new adventure machine is powered by an all-new engine platform. It features a robust 420cc parallel-twin engine designed to deliver a thrilling and manageable ride. This twin-cylinder heart generates a strong output of 48 horsepower (hp) at 8,750 revolutions per minute (rpm) and a peak torque of 43 Newton-meters (Nm) at 6,750 rpm. This power-packed configuration promises an excellent blend of on-road cruising capability and off-road competence, perfectly suiting the GS badge.

While production is in full swing at the Hosur plant, motorcycle enthusiasts in India are keenly awaiting an official announcement regarding the domestic launch date and pricing. Given the segment it operates in and the premium badging, the F 450 GS is expected to generate significant buzz and appeal to riders looking for a powerful, mid-segment adventure motorcycle built with global quality standards right here in India. We will certainly provide an immediate update once BMW Motorrad reveals the final details for its Indian market debut. This milestone not only celebrates the volume of bikes produced but truly signifies the successful fusion of German engineering excellence with Indian manufacturing prowess.
