Ather Introduces BaaS for Rizta & 450 Series – Buy for Rs 75,999

Ather Energy has introduced its innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, aiming to make electric two-wheelers more accessible and affordable. With BaaS, customers can enjoy a reduced upfront cost for purchasing Ather’s electric scooters by opting for a monthly payment plan for battery usage. This move positions Ather as one of the key players in the EV market to offer such flexibility, following Hero MotoCorp’s recent launch of Vida VX2 with a similar scheme.

Lower Prices, Higher Benefits

The introduction of BaaS marks a significant price drop for Ather models. Customers can now own the Ather Rizta at a starting price of Rs 75,999 and the Ather 450 Series at Rs 84,341 (both prices ex-showroom, Lucknow). By separating the cost of the battery from the scooter, Ather has made the transition to electric vehicles more accessible to a broader audience.

Under the BaaS model, customers pay a flexible monthly fee, with usage-based pricing designed to cater to individual needs. For instance, a customer opting for a 48-month package will pay Rs 1 per kilometer, with a minimum requirement of 1,000 kilometers per month. This pricing structure spreads out the cost of the battery over three to four years, providing financial flexibility for customers.

Collaborating with multiple financial institutions, including banks and non-banking financial corporations, Ather ensures a smooth and accessible financing process for its customers.

Ather Assured Buyback Program Expanded

Adding to the customer-first approach, Ather has extended its Assured Buyback program after a successful pilot earlier this year. This initiative offers customers up to 60% of the scooter’s original value after three years and up to 50% after four years. The resale value depends on the kilometers traveled, giving customers clear expectations about their investment’s future worth.

With this program, customers can confidently invest in Ather scooters, knowing that their purchase retains value over time. It’s an excellent solution for those concerned about the rapid advancements in EV technology or the depreciation of early EV models.

Breaking Barriers for EV Adoption

Ather Energy’s Chief Business Officer, Ravneet Phokela, highlighted the company’s goal to accelerate EV adoption. Through initiatives such as BaaS, Extended Comprehensive Warranty (ECW), and Assured Buyback, Ather addresses key challenges and eases hesitations prospective customers might have about transitioning to electric scooters.

“As the EV segment continues to grow, we recognize that customers have diverse needs and concerns when considering an electric scooter. By introducing these programs, we aim to remove the barriers that hold them back. Our focus remains firmly on making EVs accessible and advantageous for families across the nation,” Phokela stated.

Exciting Announcements Ahead

Looking forward, Ather Energy is set to unveil even more innovations at its upcoming Ather Community Day on August 30. The event will feature the launch of a new electric platform, showcase concept vehicles, and debut next-generation fast chargers. Additionally, Ather will reveal an upgraded software stack, Ather Stack 7.0, which aims to deliver a smarter and more intuitive riding experience.

By consistently addressing customer pain points and reshaping the EV landscape with fresh innovations, Ather Energy continues to solidify its position as a leader in India’s electric two-wheeler market.
