The spirit of pure, unadulterated two-wheeled fun has just received a massive shot of adrenaline. At EICMA 2025, Ducati pulled the covers off the highly-anticipated fourth-generation Hypermotard, now powered by the brand’s versatile 890cc V2 engine. Celebrating 20 years since the original concept stunned the Milan show, the new lineup includes both a standard Hypermotard V2 and a top-tier V2 SP variant, both promising a significant leap in performance and agility.
Gone is the previous model’s heft. Ducati’s engineers have performed a dramatic weight-loss program, with the standard V2 shedding an impressive 13 kilograms. This immediately translates to a motorcycle that should feel more flickable and responsive, living up to its “motard” name with renewed vigor.
Performance and Powertrain

At the core of this new generation is Ducati’s proven 890cc Testastretta L-twin engine. This powerplant pushes out a hearty 120 horsepower at 10,750 rpm and 94 Nm of torque. While peak torque sees a slight decrease, Ducati emphasizes the engine’s incredibly accessible nature, with a claimed 70% of that torque available from just 3,000 rpm. This means explosive acceleration out of corners is just a twist of the wrist away.
The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring a bi-directional quickshifter for seamless clutchless shifts. In a welcome move for owners, maintenance intervals have been extended, with valve-clearance checks now only needed every 15,000 kilometers thanks to the adoption of spring valves.
A Radical Chassis Redesign

One of the most significant changes lies in the bike’s skeleton. The new Hypermotard moves to a monocoque chassis, a design that integrates the frame and the engine as a single, rigid structure for optimal handling. In a nod to its heritage, it retains the iconic trellis subframe. Another first for the model is the switch to a double-sided swingarm, contributing to the bike’s refined chassis dynamics.
The SP version takes the performance even further. It sheds an additional 3 kilograms (16 kg total) and is equipped with fully adjustable 48mm Öhlins suspension at the front and rear, compared to the capable Kayaba units on the standard model. Braking is handled by high-performance Brembo setups, with the SP boasting the superior M50 calipers gripping 320mm discs.
Electronics and Styling for the Modern Rider
As expected from a modern Ducati, the Hypermotard V2 is a tech powerhouse. A sophisticated 6-axis IMU manages a full suite of electronic rider aids, including cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and engine brake control. Riders can tailor the bike’s character through four distinct riding modes: Race, Sport, Road, and Wet. All information is displayed on a new, modern 5-inch TFT screen.
Visually, the new Hypermotard is sharper than ever. It features a new, aggressive LED headlight—a first for the model line—and a tail section inspired by the brutal Streetfighter V4. The standard model is finished in classic Ducati Red, while the SP variant wears a special white livery adorned with a red ’20’ graphic, a direct tribute to the model’s 20-year legacy.
With its global unveil complete, the motorcycle world now awaits Ducati’s announcement on regional availability. For riders seeking the ultimate combination of supermoto agility and streetfighter power, the wait for the new Hypermotard V2 has just become the hardest part.
