Ducati has officially unleashed its latest interpretation of brute force meets laid-back cruising—the XDiavel V4—into the Indian market with an ex-showroom price starting at ₹30.89 lakh. Positioned as the successor to the XDiavel 1260 S, this model isn’t just an update; it’s a fundamental reengineering that brings MotoGP-derived technology to the cruiser segment, offering a compelling blend of raw performance and relaxed ergonomics.
At the heart of the new XDiavel V4 lies the 1,158cc V4 Granturismo engine, a powerhouse derived directly from Ducati’s legendary Desmosedici Stradale. This unit churns out a substantial 168 hp and 126 Nm of torque, engineered to deliver explosive acceleration—Ducati claims it can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds—while remaining surprisingly tractable in city traffic. Key innovations like a counter-rotating crankshaft and cylinder deactivation technology refine the experience, reducing vibrations and improving efficiency. Notably, the engine employs conventional spring valves, which means owners will need a valve clearance check at 60,000 km, a point of consideration for long-term maintenance.

One of the most significant technical shifts is the move from a belt to a chain final drive. This change, while altering the character slightly, aligns with the bike’s performance ethos, offering more direct power transfer and catering to enthusiasts who prioritize dynamic response. True to its cruiser DNA, the XDiavel V4 retains a low-slung, muscular stance with a seat height of just 770mm. The riding position is deliberately relaxed, featuring forward-set footpegs and a swept-back handlebar, though mid-set pegs will be available as an accessory for those preferring a slightly sportier posture. Ducati has also focused on two-up comfort, widening the pillion seat for better accommodation.
Despite its cruiser intentions, the XDiavel V4 is built on a serious performance chassis. It comes equipped with fully adjustable suspension, a single-sided swingarm, and top-shelf Brembo Stylema brakes with 330mm discs up front. Engineers have managed to shed approximately 6 kg compared to its predecessor, aiding agility. Coupled with a comprehensive electronics suite—including multiple riding modes, cornering ABS, traction control, and a bidirectional quickshifter—the bike promises stability and confidence, even with its broad 240-section rear tire. All settings are managed through a vibrant 5-inch TFT display, ensuring the technology feels intuitive and rider-focused.
The Ducati XDiavel V4 is offered in two color options: Ducati Red at ₹30.89 lakh and Black Lava at ₹31.20 lakh. This positions it at a premium of over ₹1.80 lakh above the standard Diavel V4, a premium justified by its unique cruiser positioning and technical advancements. With this launch, Ducati isn’t just selling a motorcycle; it’s offering a distinct experience—where the soul of a cruiser meets the heart of a MotoGP machine.
