Hero MotoCorp’s electric vehicle arm, Vida, has shifted gears into the youth mobility segment with the launch of the DIRT.E K3. This isn’t just another kids’ electric bike; it’s a fully-fledged, modular off-road motorcycle engineered to grow alongside a child’s development, targeting riders aged four to ten. Priced at an introductory ₹69,990, it represents a significant investment in a child’s formative riding years.
Central to the K3’s design is an adjustable platform that evolves through three distinct size stages: Small, Medium, and Large. This isn’t merely about extending a seat or handlebars. The entire motorcycle transforms. It grows in length from 1181 mm to 1342 mm, while the saddle height adjusts from a low 454 mm to a more confident 631 mm. The wheelbase and ergonomics scale proportionally, ensuring the bike’s handling and feel remain consistent and familiar as a young rider gains size and skill. The idea is clear: one motorcycle to span multiple years of adventure.

Beneath this adaptable exterior lies serious engineering from Vida’s teams at the Hero Tech Centre Germany and the Centre of Innovation and Technology in Jaipur. Power comes from a hub motor delivering a continuous 10A and a peak of 20A. This translates to approximately 0.68 horsepower and, more importantly, a robust 39.1 Nm of torque. The focus is on linear, controllable power delivery—essential for a child learning traction and throttle control on dirt, not sudden, jarring acceleration.
Parents retain control through a triple-mode system. Beginner mode caps speed at a walking pace of 7-8 kmph, perfect for finding balance. Amateur mode unlocks roughly 16-17 kmph, while Pro mode lets the bike reach its full potential of 23-25 kmph. These modes, along with potential app-based restrictions, allow performance to match a child’s progressing confidence. Safety is baked in with a magnetic kill-switch lanyard that instantly cuts power if the rider separates from the bike, a feature borrowed from professional motocross.

The K3 is built on a Modular PDC frame, rolling on 16-inch tyres at both ends, with a 160mm rear disc brake providing dependable stopping power. It’s powered by a removable 48V, 360Wh NMC lithium-ion battery pack. Using the included portable charger, it can go from 20% to 80% in about two hours from a standard home socket. Vida has deliberately avoided a fast charger for this model to prioritize long-term battery health.
With a design featuring short overhangs, a raised seat, and proper dirt-bike proportions, the K3 looks the part. It launches in three colours: Red, Purple, and White. The introductory price of ₹69,990 applies to the first 300 units. Bookings are now open, with retail sales set to begin on January 15, 2026. Initially, the bike will be available at select Vida dealerships in Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Jaipur, and Calicut.
