Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) reported a robust performance in April 2026, recording total sales of 5.63 lakh units, marking a 17% year-on-year growth compared to 4.80 lakh units in the same month last year.

The growth reflects steady demand across both domestic and international markets, positioning the company for a strong start to the new financial year.

Domestic and Export Performance Drive Growth

Honda’s domestic sales stood at 4.84 lakh units in April 2026, registering a 14.7% increase over 4.22 lakh units sold in April 2025.

Meanwhile, exports emerged as a key growth driver. The company shipped 79,600 units overseas, reflecting a significant 37.4% rise compared to the previous year’s figures.

The strong export performance indicates growing international demand for Honda’s two-wheelers, complementing the steady domestic market momentum.

Market Context: Positive Momentum in Two-Wheeler Segment

Honda’s performance comes amid a broader recovery in India’s two-wheeler market. Industry trends indicate resilient demand across motorcycles and scooters, supported by improved consumer sentiment and mobility needs.

The segment has seen consistent growth in recent months, driven by popular commuter models and rising rural as well as urban demand. This environment has enabled major manufacturers, including Honda, to post strong year-on-year gains.

Company Outlook and Strategy

Commenting on the performance, HMSI President and CEO Tsutsumu Otani highlighted the company’s focus on maintaining consistent growth through operational discipline and customer-centric strategies. He noted that demand remains resilient across segments and that the company aims to respond proactively to evolving market conditions.

Honda’s extensive distribution network—spanning over 7,000 touchpoints—continues to support its market reach, while ongoing capacity expansion plans are expected to strengthen future production capabilities.

Looking Ahead

With a balanced mix of strong domestic demand and accelerating exports, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has begun FY2026 on a positive note. If current trends continue, the company is well-positioned to sustain growth in the highly competitive two-wheeler market in the coming months.
