Hyundai Venue HX5+ Launched: Priced at 9.99 Lakh

Hyundai Venue HX5+ Laucnahed

Hyundai has swiftly expanded the lineup of its refreshed Venue compact SUV with a strategically positioned new variant. Named the Venue HX5+, this new offering arrives at an ex-showroom price of ₹9.99 lakh, effectively creating a new mid-tier option for buyers.

The HX5+ is designed to offer a taste of the higher-spec HX6 trim’s appeal without reaching its price point. It slots neatly between the existing HX5 and HX6 variants, priced approximately ₹85,000 above the former and about ₹33,000 below the latter. This variant is exclusively available with the familiar 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

From the outside, the HX5+ gains two significant upgrades borrowed from the HX6: the stylish quad-beam LED headlights and the substantial roof rails. These elements lend it a more premium and complete appearance compared to the HX5. A practical rear wiper and washer, important for visibility and safety, are also part of the package. It continues, however, with the HX5’s 15-inch steel wheels with covers, body-coloured door handles and ORVMs, and faux skid plates.

Inside the cabin, Hyundai has focused on enhancing convenience. Key additions include a wireless smartphone charging pad, a welcome feature that reduces cable clutter on the centre console. That console now also incorporates an armrest with integrated storage. For rear-seat passengers, the inclusion of a sunshade adds a touch of comfort. The driver also benefits, as the driver-side power window now gets an auto up/down function.

Under the hood, the powertrain remains unchanged. The 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine delivers 83hp and 115Nm of torque, certified for a fuel efficiency of 18.05 kmpl.

For the prospective buyer, the HX5+ presents a compelling value proposition. It sacrifices some HX6 features like automatic climate control and split-folding rear seats, but in return, it brings the more modern LED headlights and several practical interior upgrades over the HX5 for a reasonable premium. This move by Hyundai cleverly caters to customers seeking specific premium touches and everyday conveniences, without necessitating a jump to the next full trim level.
