The highly anticipated Kia Carens Clavis EV is set to debut in India on July 15, 2025, marking Kia’s first midsize electric MPV offering in the market. This innovative model is expected to come with two battery options, delivering an impressive driving range of over 450 km on a single charge, according to early estimates.
Built on the foundation of the recently introduced ICE-based Carens Clavis, the electric version retains much of the design and technology while incorporating changes that set it apart. Expect subtle design upgrades such as a redesigned front fascia, reshaped LED DRLs, and updated alloy wheels to distinguish the electric Clavis from its internal combustion-engine counterpart.

The spacious cabin and flexible three-row seating of the Clavis EV ensure comfort and practicality for families and long journeys. While the core dashboard layout and touchscreen setup are expected to remain similar to the ICE model, better materials and finishes may enhance the premium feel.
Under the hood, the Clavis EV will likely share key components with the recently launched Hyundai Creta Electric. Offering 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery options with ranges of up to 390 km and 473 km respectively on the Creta Electric, the Clavis EV targets a realistic range of over 450 km, thanks to its marginally larger size and added weight.

Interestingly, Kia is carving out a niche with no direct competitors currently available in the midsize electric MPV space, making the Clavis EV a compelling and unique choice in the market.
Looking ahead, Kia’s electric lineup is set to grow, with the compact Syros EV slated to launch by 2026. Likely positioned as a more affordable eco-friendly SUV, the Syros EV aims to take on rivals like the Tata Punch EV in the subcompact segment.
