KTM 690 Enduro R and SMC R Debut with Power Boosts and Stunning Features

KTM has introduced the 2026 versions of its iconic LC4 line-up, featuring the 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R. Both models now boast significant updates, including a re-engineered engine, modernized technology, refinements in ergonomics, and refreshed styling. These enhancements catapult KTM’s flagship single-cylinder motorcycles into a higher league while retaining their unique off-road and supermoto appeal.

The new engines have been extensively reworked, presenting a compelling case for power enthusiasts. With a revised torque curve and an impressive 79hp output, the performance has risen without affecting torque, which stands steady at 73Nm. The internal components have been overhauled to ensure compliance with the latest regulations while improving durability. The innovations include changes to the crankcase, clutch covers, stator covers, a redesigned oil delivery system, and a fuel pump. The valve timing has also been revamped to optimize power delivery. Additionally, rubber engine mounts are now standard to minimize vibrations, while a streamlined intake layout and a compact muffler enhance airflow efficiency.

For convenience, KTM has drastically extended maintenance intervals. Engine oil changes are now required every 15,000 kilometers, and valve clearance checks have been pushed out to 60,000 kilometers, offering riders more time to enjoy the exhilaration of the ride.

One of the most noteworthy upgrades for 2026 is the replacement of the old LCD dashboard with a 4.2-inch full-color TFT display. This advanced interface comes with KTMconnect smartphone pairing, USB-C charging, music controls, call functionality, and turn-by-turn navigation capabilities. Riders will also appreciate the addition of newly designed backlit switchgear and a dedicated ABS-off button, offering better control during intense riding scenarios.

The advanced rider aids are another key highlight. Cornering ABS and lean-sensitive Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) are now standard on both models, ensuring optimal safety and performance through various riding conditions. The Enduro R gains a Rally mode, giving riders adjustable traction and motor-slip regulation. Meanwhile, the SMC R features a Track mode complete with launch control, five-stage anti-wheelie settings, slip adjustment, and supermoto-specific ABS configurations.

KTM has also paid special attention to aesthetics and structural tweaks. Both motorcycles now feature new LED headlights, taillights, and indicators, enhancing their visual appeal and functionality. The steel trellis frame remains a core design aspect, but it has been made stiffer to improve rider feedback. Revised suspension tuning ensures better handling across terrains, and WP suspension components have been optimized for the distinct demands of off-road and supermoto riding.

The Enduro R sports reimagined bodywork with new in-mold graphics that are more durable. The riding experience is further improved by the addition of a relocated center-stand mount, offering convenience for travelers and adventure riders alike.

Globally, the updated KTM 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R are set to hit dealerships by September 2025. Pricing for markets like India is yet to be confirmed, but these bikes are expected to create significant buzz due to their substantial upgrades.
