Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Exports Hit 100,000

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door

Maruti Suzuki India has cemented its position as a global automotive hub, announcing a landmark achievement: the export of over 100,000 units of its India-made Jimny 5-door SUV. Since production began in 2023, this rugged off-roader has rapidly found its way to driveways and trails in more than 100 nations across the globe, including key markets like Japan, Australia, Mexico, and South Africa.

The Jimny’s international appeal has been so potent that it has swiftly climbed the ranks to become the company’s second most-exported model, trailing only behind the Fronx. A significant catalyst for this surge was its highly anticipated launch in Japan—the spiritual home of the Suzuki Jimny—under the “Jimny Nomade” badge in early 2025. The model’s reception was nothing short of phenomenal, with reports indicating it amassed over 50,000 bookings in a matter of days, proving its mettle in one of the world’s most competitive and quality-conscious car markets.

Built for Adventure, Backed by Heritage

While its boxy, classic silhouette pays homage to its long-standing heritage, the Jimny 5-door is thoroughly modern where it counts. It’s engineered with a robust ladder-frame chassis, built to handle the toughest terrains. Powering the adventure is a proven 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, generating 109 bhp and 136 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission, and crucially, every variant comes standard with Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO 4WD system and a low-range transfer case, ensuring genuine off-road capability is never an option.

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, reflected on the milestone, stating, “The Jimny carries a legacy spanning over half a century. Crossing the one lakh export mark for the 5-door model is a proud moment for us and a testament to the trust of our global customers. Its unwavering off-road DNA, dependable performance, and superior quality have earned it admiration in over 100 countries.”

A Catalyst for Record-Breaking Exports

The success of the Jimny 5-door is a central chapter in Maruti Suzuki’s broader export success story. The company’s overseas shipments have hit unprecedented levels. In the first half of the 2025–26 financial year alone, the automaker exported over 200,000 vehicles—its highest-ever half-year total and a staggering 40% year-on-year growth.

This momentum builds on a strong foundation set in the previous fiscal year (2024–25), where the company shipped 330,000 units. According to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Maruti Suzuki now commands an impressive 46% share of India’s total passenger vehicle exports. The Jimny leads this charge as the nation’s top-performing 4×4 export model.

Alongside the Jimny, Maruti Suzuki exports 16 other models manufactured at its Indian facilities. To meet global standards, the Jimny 5-door is offered with a host of modern features, including a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, distinctive circular LED headlamps, six airbags, and a handy 360-degree camera for navigating tricky urban and off-road situations.
