Maruti Suzuki has enhanced the safety features of its XL6 MPV by equipping it with six airbags as standard. This update mirrors a similar safety enhancement made recently on the Ertiga. With this addition, the XL6 further strengthens its safety credentials, though it also comes with a minor price hike of 0.8%.
- 6 airbags standard across Zeta, Alpha, and Alpha+ trims
- Price increase estimated between Rs 9,500 and Rs 12,000 per variant
- Powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine and available in petrol and CNG options
Six Airbags Now Standard on the Maruti XL6
The XL6 is the latest model in Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa lineup to get the six-airbags update, making it a safer choice for passengers. Prices are expected to rise between Rs 9,500 and Rs 12,000, depending on the variant, due to the update. This slight increase follows Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to improving safety standards across its entire range of cars by year-end.
Before this safety boost, the XL6’s pricing ranged from Rs 11.83 lakh to Rs 14.83 lakh (ex-showroom), with detailed figures post-update yet to be disclosed by the automaker.
Additional Standard Safety Features
Beyond airbags, the XL6 boasts a suite of safety features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all passengers, and a brake assist system. The top variants further elevate the experience with the inclusion of a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a 360-degree camera, delivering greater convenience and confidence to drivers.
Engine and Performance Remain Unchanged
While the safety upgrades take center stage, the XL6 retains its reliable performance capabilities. It continues to be powered by a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine generating 103hp and 137Nm of torque, paired with a choice of a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The CNG variant, only available in the base Zeta trim, produces 88hp and 121Nm, ensuring diverse options to suit varied driving preferences.
Maruti Suzuki’s Commitment to Safer Vehicles
Maruti Suzuki chairman R.C. Bhargava earlier stated that by the end of the year, all Maruti vehicles would come equipped with six airbags. Currently, the Fronx, Ignis, and S-Presso remain the last models awaiting this upgrade, emphasizing Maruti’s ongoing mission for a safer driving experience.
