Audi is shifting gears for the Indian market, with the all-new, third-generation Q3 compact luxury SUV reportedly getting top priority. According to sources, Audi is aiming to launch the vehicle in India within 2026, potentially as early as the third quarter of the year.
This accelerated timeline means the new Q3 could beat several other awaited Audi models to Indian showrooms, including the new A5 sedan, the next-generation Q5, and the electric Q6 e-tron. This strategic move underscores the model’s critical importance in Audi’s Indian portfolio.
The Q3 has historically been a cornerstone of Audi’s sales in India since its 2012 debut. However, its discontinuation in 2020 and the subsequent delayed launch of the second-generation model created a significant vacuum in the brand’s lineup. By bringing the latest Q3 to market much quicker this time, Audi is clearly aiming to reclaim its stronghold in the fiercely competitive entry-level luxury SUV segment.
What to Expect from the New Audi Q3

Globally unveiled in June 2024, the third-generation Q3 is a comprehensive overhaul. For Indian customers, the most significant news is under the hood. The India-spec model is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 204hp, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. In a masterstroke, Audi will likely make its Quattro all-wheel-drive system standard on the Q3 for India. This would instantly differentiate it from key rivals like the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA, which primarily offer front-wheel-drive setups, making the Q3 the only SUV in its class with a standard petrol-AWD combination.
The new Q3 is built on an updated version of the Volkswagen Group’s versatile MQB platform. Visually, it marks a dramatic departure from the current model, embracing Audi’s latest design language with split-headlamp clusters, a more assertive front grille, and sharp, expressive body lines. The SUV has grown slightly in length, with the extra emphasis placed on the front overhang, giving it a more planted stance. As before, buyers will likely have the choice between the standard SUV body style and the sleek, coupe-like Sportback variant.
Inside, the cabin takes a major technological leap. A large, free-standing 12.8-inch touchscreen will dominate the dashboard, complemented by an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a head-up display, creating a modern and driver-focused environment.
With its compelling blend of standard all-wheel drive, a bold new design, and a cutting-edge interior, the new Audi Q3 is poised to make a strong impact. When it arrives in 2026, it is expected to carry a price tag starting around Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom), setting the stage for an intense battle in the heart of the Indian luxury car market.
