In a stunning display of demand for performance cars, Skoda Auto India’s entire first batch of the new Octavia RS was snapped up in a mere 20 minutes. The pre-bookings, which opened just three days ago, saw all 100 allocated units reserved almost instantly through the company’s online platform, with customers putting down a token amount of ₹2.50 lakh to secure their vehicle.
This electric response sets the stage for the car’s official launch on October 17, with customer deliveries expected to begin on November 6.
What’s Driving the Frenzy?

The Octavia RS is more than just a sedan; it’s a statement. As a performance-focused variant of the popular Octavia, it brings a level of excitement that is rare in today’s market. The heart of this machine is its formidable 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, which delivers a thrilling 265 PS of power and 370 Nm of torque. This power is seamlessly channeled to the front wheels via a quick-shifting seven-speed DSG automatic transmission, promising an engaging drive that enthusiasts crave.
Adding to its appeal is its exclusive status. Skoda is bringing the Octavia RS to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), imported directly from its Czech Republic factory. This not only ensures authentic European build quality but also limits the number of units available, making ownership a rare privilege.
A Design That Commands Attention

The Octavia RS doesn’t just perform differently; it looks the part. It sheds the restrained elegance of the standard model for a far more aggressive posture. The sportier bodywork includes reprofiled bumpers with distinctive triangular air intakes, twin exhaust finishers, and striking 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Buyers can choose from five bold exterior colours: Mamba Green, Magic Black, Race Blue, Candy White, and Velvet Red. Inside, the performance theme continues with heavily bolstered bucket seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel with RS branding, aluminium pedals, and contrasting red stitching throughout the cabin.
The India-Spec Package
While based on the UK version, the Indian-spec Octavia RS will arrive as a single, fully-loaded variant. However, it will forego a few premium features available in other markets to meet its price point, such as the Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) and a panoramic sunroof. Despite this, the car comes generously equipped, offering a pure and focused driving experience that highlights its mechanical prowess.
The lightning-fast sell-out of the Octavia RS is a clear indicator that the passion for powerful, well-engineered sedans is alive and well in India. For those who missed this initial batch, all eyes will be on Skoda to see if a second wave of this high-performance machine will follow.
