Vietnamese automaker VinFast has officially entered the Indian market, launching two striking electric SUVs, the VF6 and VF7. Following the start of operations at its new manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu, the company has announced competitive pricing for its initial offerings, which will be assembled locally from Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits.
Reservations for both the VF6 and VF7 are now open through the brand’s official website. The VinFast VF6 is introduced with a starting price of Rs. 16.49 lakh, positioning it as an accessible option in the growing EV space. The larger and more premium VF7 starts at Rs. 20.89 lakh for the front-wheel-drive model and goes up to Rs. 25.49 lakh for the all-wheel-drive variant (all prices ex-showroom).
The VinFast VF6 is a compact five-seater SUV with a modern design, highlighted by its signature V-shaped LED daytime running lights and a connected rear light bar. Its side profile has a sleek, coupe-like silhouette that gives it a dynamic stance. The vehicle measures 4,238 mm in length and features a generous 2,730 mm wheelbase, which translates to a spacious interior and a practical 423-litre boot.

The VF6 is offered in multiple trims, all powered by a 59 kWh battery pack. The base variant delivers a respectable 174 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, while the higher-tier model boosts performance to 204 horsepower and 310 Nm. According to WLTP standards, the VF6 offers a certified range of up to 399 km on a single charge. It also supports DC fast charging, allowing the battery to be replenished from 20% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
For those seeking more space and performance, the VinFast VF7 offers a more upmarket experience. It is equipped with a larger 75.3 kWh battery. The standard front-wheel-drive model produces 201 horsepower and 309 Nm of torque, achieving an impressive WLTP-certified range of up to 451 km. The top-tier all-wheel-drive Plus variant is a true performance model, delivering a powerful 348 horsepower and 499 Nm of torque. This added performance results in a slightly reduced range of 431 km.

Inside the VF7, the cabin is dominated by a large 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that serves as the central hub for most vehicle functions. It comes loaded with features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, integrated Google apps, and voice commands. The interior is designed for comfort and luxury, offering ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof, dual-zone automatic climate control, and ambient lighting. Safety is also a priority, with the VF7 including seven airbags and a Level 2 Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) suite, which provides features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.
With its strategic local assembly and a lineup that balances style, performance, and advanced technology, VinFast is poised to make a significant impact on India’s electric vehicle market. The company has also indicated that more models will be introduced in the coming years, signaling a long-term commitment to the region.
