VLF Mobster Launched in India: A 125cc Liquid-Cooled Scooter

Kolhapur-based Motohaus has officially launched the VLF Mobster in India, introducing a bold and technologically advanced option for scooter enthusiasts. With an introductory price of Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom), the Mobster aims to carve out a niche in the performance scooter segment by offering features rarely seen on two-wheelers of its size.

This aggressive pricing is available for the first 2,500 customers, after which the company will revise the cost. The Mobster, from the Italian-designed brand Velocifero (manufactured in China), joins the VLF Tennis in Motohaus’s Indian portfolio.

Engineering and Performance

At the heart of the Mobster is what makes it truly unique: a 125cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This powertrain delivers 12.1hp and 11.7Nm of torque, making the Mobster the smallest-capacity scooter in India to benefit from liquid cooling—a system typically reserved for larger models like the Hero Xoom 160 and Yamaha Aerox 155. This technology allows for more consistent performance and is a significant step above the air-cooled engines common in the 110-125cc class. VLF claims a top speed of 100 kph, positioning it as a serious contender for urban riding and occasional highway bursts.

Beyond the engine, the Mobster’ chassis and safety features are equally impressive. It comes equipped with dual-channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and traction control, both of which are switchable. The inclusion of dual-channel ABS is a notable advantage, offering superior braking safety that is still a rarity on Indian scooters.

Design and Feature Set

VLF Mobster 125cc Design

The Mobster’s design is sure to turn heads. It sports an aggressive, Italjet-inspired aesthetic, highlighted by distinctive low-set headlights. It rides on 12-inch wheels with a telescopic fork up front and dual gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear, promising a dynamic ride.

For the modern rider, the scooter is loaded with technology. A keyless ignition system adds convenience, while a 5-inch full-color TFT display provides all vital information and offers Bluetooth connectivity for smartphone integration. In a clever move, VLF is even offering an integrated dashcam as an optional accessory, a feature that is growing in popularity.

Market Position and Considerations

Priced at Rs 1.30 lakh, the VLF Mobster enters a competitive space. It sits close to the more powerful Yamaha Aerox 155 (Rs 1.38 lakh) and Hero Xoom 160 (Rs 1.37 lakh), while commanding a premium over popular performance scooters like the TVS Ntorq. Its value proposition lies not in outright displacement, but in its advanced liquid-cooling, comprehensive safety tech, and distinctive style.

However, prospective buyers should consider two key factors. VLF is a relatively new brand in India, with an unproven long-term reliability record. Furthermore, Motohaus currently has a limited dealership network of 12 outlets, though it plans to add 10 more soon. While the Mobster presents an exciting and unique package, the availability of sales and service support should be a crucial part of the purchasing decision.

For those seeking a scooter that stands out from the crowd with premium technology and a bold design, the VLF Mobster presents a compelling and intriguing new choice.
